Still in January 2022, much of our notion of war and peace in the Western Europe was derived from the aftermath of the Second World War. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine put us in front of the following questions: what is the role and space of peace in Europe, where do we need to go and what is the role of a new generation in Europe at war?
The day offers panel discussions, interaction and practical workshops for one of the most pressing questions of our times: How can we rethink Peace and Security in Europe at war, while committing to supporting each other in being the counterbalance of rising polarization and militarization?
The event ReBuilding Community Relations – ReBuilding Peace together will also premiere an online story and short film “Portraits of Peace”, offering insights on critical questions about peace from different parts of Europe.
The seminar is organized by four European Peace organizations: Berlin Center for Integrative Mediation: CSSP, Peace Education Institute Finland, Institute of Social Safety Poland and Romanian Peace Institute PATRIR. It closes a two-year series of international trainings where educators, peace and youth workers, young activists and researchers from Poland, Romania, Finland and Germany have responded to the war in Ukraine and its effects in European societies called “New Generation Wakes up to a War”.
