How can we build peace at a time of many crises and conflict?
What skills do we need to create a society free from discrimination?
What if a better future starts with learning a new way to relate to ourselves, to each other, and to our shared world?
The Academy of Hope(lessness) is a community for young adults aged 18–29 who want to work toward hope, peace, and a fairer future together.
Hope grows when we trust that our own thoughts and actions matter. Peace grows when we can listen to each other and treat each other with respect, even when we disagree. In the Academy of Hope(lessness), we explore questions that have no single right answer. We talk about hope, hopelessness, being human, and society. We look at these topics through peace education. We do hands-on and creative activities, we practice dialogue, and we meet activists and changemakers from different fields. In the Academy of Hope(lessness), it’s okay to be unfinished, to think out loud, and to learn together with others.
We meet about every two weeks on Thursdays, from 17:00 to 19:30, at different locations in central Oulu. It is free to take part.
We offer you the chance to:

A better world does not happen by chance. People build it — people who dare to imagine it and work for it together. To join the Academy of Hope(lessness), fill in a short application form. This helps us get to know you. We want a mixed group, with people from different backgrounds and life situations. This makes learning richer for everyone. You do not need past experience in advocacy. You do not need special knowledge or skills. What matters most is your motivation and your wish to learn — about yourself and about the people around you.
The Academy of Hope(lessness) is run by staff from the Peace Education Institute and Nuorten Palvelu, together with the City of Oulu. The work is funded by the European Social Fund ESR+.
