OURS

Racism and discrimination affect young people’s safety, wellbeing and sense of belonging. They can become part of everyday school life, from routines to rules. Schools need practical tools and support to change this.

What is OURS?

OURS is a three-year EU-funded project that helps schools prevent and respond to racism, xenophobia and intolerance. Our goal is a school where every young person can take part, feel safe and belong.

Who is it for?

Teachers, school leaders and other education professionals, and the young people they work with. We pay special attention to girls and to young people who experience racialization or other forms of exclusion.

What do we do?

• We start by looking at what schools and neighborhoods already do, and where the gaps are.
• We develop, test and adapt practical approaches that work in different schools and countries.
• Young people share their experiences and take part in non-formal education activities on racism, xenophobia and intolerance.
• We support teachers and school leaders to build their knowledge, skills and practices.
• Schools and local partners work together to strengthen policies and everyday practices that promote inclusion.
