Public Spaces 4 Peace Places

Reimagining Public Spaces with Young People

Youth work often focuses on urgent problems such as violence, exclusion and unemployment but rarely invites young people to tackle the root causes or imagine alternatives. Public Spaces 4 Peace Places project shifts the focus from problems to possibilities, supporting young people to take the lead in shaping more peaceful, inclusive communities.

We will train youth leaders to work with their peers in co-creating “peace places” – public spaces that reflect safety, belonging and vision. Through trust-building, participatory mapping and creative workshops, young people will reimagine the places around them and bring their ideas to life.

These locally grounded concepts will be presented to city officials, opening up dialogue and encouraging more inclusive approaches to urban planning and youth engagement.

Our team combines expertise in youth work, non-formal education and architecture to offer a bold, cross-disciplinary approach to social change. In today’s climate of polarisation and disconnection, this project offers fresh and much-needed methods for building peace, participation and a stronger sense of community.
