Two university interns in Tampere to work with young people and young adults
Are you excited about a role that combines working with young people and young adults (aged 15–29), civic participation and advocacy, event organising, network collaboration and communications?
Rauhankasvatusinstituutti – The Peace Education Institute (RKI) is recruiting two university interns in Tampere to work on themes related to peace, equality, and equity. The internship starts in March 2026. A full-time internship lasts 3 months. It is also possible to complete the internship part-time between March and August 2026. We require that the intern has an internship grant/support provided by their university.
As an intern, you will work closely with young people and support activities that they plan and implement themselves. In our projects, young people are active actors and the key decision-makers regarding the content. Your role is to enable, facilitate and support this work in practice. This includes, for example, preparing meetings and events together with young people, structuring schedules and overall plans, supporting communications and documentation, and liaising with stakeholders such as NGOs and decision-makers. The internship may also include other tasks related to our organisation’s core activities, depending on the intern’s skills and interests.
Your work will connect to both international and national projects, focusing on peace, equality and equity, as well as anti-racism and global responsibility. Your background may be in social sciences, education, public administration or related fields, but applicants from other disciplines may also be a good fit. Familiarity with civil society/NGO work is an advantage.
The more detailed tasks and timing of the internships will be agreed individually with the selected candidates. We offer interns the opportunity to shape their role based on their skills and interests.
The working languages are Finnish and English. Applications are welcome also in English, and proficiency in Finnish is not required for the position.
To succeed in this role, you should be motivated to work in a youth-led way, be flexible in changing situations, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
In addition, we hope you have:
- experience (work experience, volunteering or similar) and interest in working with young people and organising events,
- a proactive, hands-on working style and the ability to work as part of a remote team
- confidence in public speaking and facilitating groups,
- strong information-seeking and collaboration skills,
- the ability to work in English
We also value:
- knowledge of youth sector actors and existing networks,
- versatile language skills, especially competence in minority languages spoken in Finland,
- skills in content creation and using different communication channels,
- experience in applying practical methods and supporting advocacy work with groups,
- subject-matter knowledge related to equality, equity, global citizenship and anti-racism
Our work community is diverse, and we welcome applicants of different ages and genders, as well as applicants from linguistic, cultural and other minority backgrounds.
Please send your application and a short CV by 18 January 2026 at 23:59 to lari.aaltonen[at]rauhankasvatus.fi. Title your application email “Intern Tampere, [your surname]”. Please do not include any additional attachments. We will interview selected applicants on Wednesday 4 February from 10:00 to 16:00.
The exact timing of the internship will be agreed individually with the selected candidate. The monthly salary is 1 450 €. We require that the intern has an internship grant/support provided by their university.
