ADD Something Meaningful creates accessible structures that amplify young people’s self-determination and support their participation in shaping society and decision-making. The project promotes active citizenship, strengthens youth work, and encourages democratic engagement at the local level.
A key focus is the scaling up of the IDEATHON method across the youth sector. By supporting youth organisations and local actors in organising IDEATHONs, the project offers a platform for participation and dialogue between young people and decision-makers. In Finland, youth groups from four cities (Kokkola, Oulu, Turku and Vaasa) have organised their own IDEATHONs.
Through training and advocacy, the project also builds the capacity of youth organisations and local authorities to implement participatory processes and raises awareness of the importance of youth involvement in local democracy.
