Matilda begins to speak:<\/p>

Seeing youth workers, creative activists, and inspiring people from around the world gives such a hopeful and inspired feeling.<\/p>

In a world where difficult things happen, the map starts to fill with bright spots when you hear, see, learn, and understand how much good is being done \u2014 and how many strong, dedicated people are working for peace education and young people\u2019s equal participation.<\/p>

Then there are those individual encounters and conversations through which you always learn so much about yourself \u2014 and that inevitably reflects on your own way of being an educator.<\/p>

For example, one thought I took with me early on from Fryshuset, from someone working with young people there: they said that they always learn with young people.<\/p>

That perspective has had a big impact on me. Even if it had been true for me before that conversation, hearing it said out loud somehow grounds you \u2014 it reminds you of the kind of educator you are, or want to be.<\/p>

[Title: In Safer Environment one can be brave].<\/p>

When a learning environment is safe and encouraging, it makes it possible to try, to take risks, to explore your limits and strengths.<\/p>

The idea that you learn from mistakes is so liberating. Mistakes aren\u2019t failures \u2014 they\u2019re opportunities to learn.<\/p>

When your work community is supportive, when there\u2019s a feeling that you\u2019re not alone with things, and there\u2019s always someone ready to reflect, to ask questions, to offer support, or to say \u201chey, you\u2019re doing great \u2014 believe in what you do,\u201d that encouragement really matters.<\/p>

Without that kind of community, it wouldn\u2019t be possible to do this work in the same way.<\/p>

It makes a huge difference when the community is safe, brave, and supportive. It offers the real opportunity to try \u2014 and to learn through experience.<\/p>

[Title: International Youth Work Requires a Readiness to Learn]<\/p>

For anyone who wants to work with young people and wonders, \u201ccould I do this?\u201d, I can say \u2014 yes, absolutely.<\/p>

There\u2019s an entire community of incredible, hopeful, inspiring, and encouraging people waiting \u2014 so come join us.<\/p>

What I believe is that in this field, you need to be open to learning. It\u2019s a skill that\u2019s incredibly useful \u2014 and one that\u2019s truly needed in this work.<\/p>
