The work on equality of the Peace Education Institute is based on the idea that each person is unique and valuable just as they are. Everyone has the right to be heard, seen, perceived, and understood as themselves and as members of their community. It should be noted that equivalence does not mean similarity. Equal treatment, therefore, requires the protection of fundamental rights and opportunities for participation for all, as well as the consideration of individual needs. It is the duty of professional educators to promote equality and to address discrimination.<\/p>

The goal of the Peace Education Institute’s work on equality and non-discrimination is to strengthen the capacity of educators to identify, address, and dismantle stereotyping and normative attitudes and the practices and operating models that maintain them. The focus is both on ethics legislation and international agreements, as well as pedagogical curricula that obligate us to promote equality, equity, and inclusion. In all our equality work, we take into account the \u201cintersecting differences\u201d or intersectional view.
