Seminar: Peace in Europe requires actions
– One generation at a time
We warmly invite you to a seminar where we’ll talk about the key issues in peace work and peace education in Europe today on the 19th of August in Eurooppasali Helsinki.
The European Union is one of the world’s largest and longest-lasting peace projects. Is this still true in our time?
Europe’s new security and political situation has brought us face to face with new questions. How do youth maintain hope for peace and faith in the future in a Europe at war? And how are these hopes realised in everyday life and peace work?
We invite you to discuss future directions for cooperation on peace work. Our intergenerational afternoon together will help us deepen our understanding of the key issues in peace in today’s Europe. What is the change we need? How can we strengthen existing peace structures, and how do we do this together?
The event is opened by an excerpt from the publication “Portraits of Peace” of the New Generation Wakes up to a War – project which offers insights into everyday peace work and its development in Finland, Poland, and Romania.
The current situation of peace work in Finland is paradoxical. Peace work funding has been cut close to zero, while the need for peace work is greater than it has been in decades. Join us to consider what are the keys to active engagement in peace in our changing world.
